What we collect, why, and how to delete it.

FamilyBrief only reads the emails you choose to forward to it. No Gmail connection, no full inbox access, no school logins. This page explains the rest in plain English.

What we collect

Your email address, the emails you forward to your FamilyBrief inbox (subject, body, attachments, sender), the events and deadlines we extract from them, and the metadata our worker needs to schedule reminders. We also keep basic operational logs (requests, errors).

What we do not collect

We never read your inbox. There is no Gmail integration, no IMAP connection, and no shared school login. If you do not forward it, we do not see it.

How forwarded emails are processed

Forwarded messages are received via Postmark, stored in our database, and sent to a third-party large language model so it can extract dates, deadlines, fees, and action items. The provider does not train on your content. We only forward the message body, sender, subject, and attachment metadata.

Who we share data with

Our infrastructure providers: Postmark (inbound and outbound email), Supabase (database and authentication), Fly.io (hosting), and our LLM provider (event extraction). We do not sell, rent, or share your data for advertising.

How long we keep it

Forwarded emails and extracted events are retained for as long as your account is active so the weekly brief and history view continue to work. If you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Children

FamilyBrief is a tool for parents. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. Children's names that appear in forwarded emails are treated as part of the email content and are subject to the same deletion controls.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or delete your account at any time. Email privacy@familybrief.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

Connections to FamilyBrief use HTTPS. Sessions are stored in encrypted, HTTP-only cookies. Database access is restricted by row-level security so household members only see their own household.

Changes to this policy

We will post material changes here and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of FamilyBrief after a change means you accept the updated policy.
