Quick answer: Add your private FamilyBrief calendar link to Apple Calendar as a subscription — in FamilyBrief, open Settings → Calendar → Add to calendar and choose Apple Calendar. Your household's events and deadlines then sync to your iPhone, iPad, and Mac automatically.

The fast version:

  1. In FamilyBrief, open Settings, then the Calendar section, and find Add to calendar.
  2. Select Apple Calendar, or copy the private calendar link.
  3. Follow the prompt to subscribe — new and changed events appear on their own.

Apple Calendar can subscribe to your private FamilyBrief calendar feed. Once it is added, FamilyBrief events can appear on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac beside your existing family, work, and school calendars.

Use this setup when you want FamilyBrief to keep updating automatically. Do not download and import the calendar as a one-time file, because imported calendars do not keep syncing.

Before You Start#

You need:

  • A FamilyBrief account
  • Your private FamilyBrief calendar link
  • Apple Calendar on iPhone, iPad, or Mac

In FamilyBrief, open your dashboard, go to Settings, then open the Calendar section to find Add to calendar. Choose Apple Calendar if you are on an Apple device, or copy the private calendar link.

Add FamilyBrief on iPhone or iPad#

  1. Open FamilyBrief on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open the Calendar section.
  4. Find Add to calendar.
  5. Select Apple Calendar.
  6. Follow the iOS or iPadOS prompt to subscribe.
  7. Confirm the calendar name and save it.

After subscribing, open the Calendar app and make sure the FamilyBrief calendar is enabled in your calendar list.

Add FamilyBrief on Mac#

  1. Open FamilyBrief on your Mac.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open the Calendar section.
  4. Find Add to calendar.
  5. Select Apple Calendar, or copy the private calendar link.
  6. If prompted, open the link in Calendar.
  7. Confirm the subscription settings.

If you are adding the link manually in Calendar on Mac:

  1. Open the Calendar app.
  2. Choose File.
  3. Choose New Calendar Subscription.
  4. Paste your FamilyBrief calendar link.
  5. Confirm the calendar name and subscription settings.

Should You Store It in iCloud?#

If Apple gives you a location option, choose the setting that makes sense for how you use Calendar:

  • Choose iCloud if you want the subscription available across Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
  • Choose local storage if you only want it on the current device.

Most families will want the iCloud option so the calendar appears on both iPhone and Mac.

What Syncs from FamilyBrief#

FamilyBrief publishes dated household items, including:

  • School events
  • Sports practices and games
  • Permission slip deadlines
  • Fee due dates
  • Camp and daycare notices
  • Parent action items with dates

Calendar apps need dates. If FamilyBrief receives an informational update without a date, it may appear in your weekly brief without appearing in Apple Calendar.

Privacy Note#

Your FamilyBrief calendar link is private to you. Anyone who has the link can view the calendar feed, so do not share it publicly.

If the link is ever shared by mistake, open FamilyBrief, go to Settings, find Add to calendar, and choose Reset link. Then subscribe again with the new link.

Troubleshooting#

Why isn't the FamilyBrief calendar showing up after I added it?#

Open the Calendar app and check your calendar list. The FamilyBrief calendar may be added but hidden.

Why aren't new FamilyBrief events appearing in Apple Calendar right away?#

Apple Calendar checks subscribed calendars on its own schedule. FamilyBrief publishes updates, but Apple decides when your device refreshes the feed.

Why does the FamilyBrief calendar appear on only one of my Apple devices?#

Check where the subscription was saved. If it was saved only on one device, add it again using iCloud so it can appear across your Apple devices.

Sync FamilyBrief with other calendars#

Why Use FamilyBrief with Apple Calendar?#

Apple Calendar is where many families already check the day. FamilyBrief helps by turning forwarded family emails into structured dates, deadlines, and reminders, then syncing them into that calendar automatically.
